Assignment 1:Photostory

For my first assignment in IT 469 I had to create a Photostory. This assignment was to be created online with the Microsoft Photostory3 application. Photostory3 is a way to tell a story about yourself or anything you want by creating a video. The application was not already installed on my computer so I had to download it. This process was did not take anytime it downloaded very quickly. I chose to do my assignment on my trip to New York City with my teammates, the University of Southern Mississippi's Dixie Darlings and the Pride of Mississippi. First I started by uploading 20-25 of my favorite pictures from my trip to Picnik and began to modify them. Picnik is a web-based photo editing software. After taking much time getting my photos exactly how I wanted them, I then added them in Photostory to start creating my video. My video consists of 20-25 photos edited in Picnik, a title slide, an ending slide, music, and narration. Finishing up my video I had to upload it to Adrive, a website that stores data, and then post the URL or my video file to our social network on mixxt.com. 

Creating my Photostory was a wonderful experience. I had never heard of the Photostory or Picnik applications. Both were so easy to use and navigate. My favorite part of the assignment was using Picnik. I always wondered how people edited their photos in such a neat way. I saw my friend doing the same thing Picnik does months before I learned about this application. The only difference was she was using a CD she paid over $100 for and I was using a FREE web based application that was just as good, if not better!

Photostory is a magnificent tool to create great visual sideshow videos. The only part of this assignment I did not care for was having upload it on Adrive. Adrive was suppose to save our work for a long period of time. Now that a couple of months has passed by it deleted my account and my work I saved on the site. 

Overall, I love doing this assignment and will suggest it to others. This would be a creative was to do a project with younger family members or friends who would really enjoy it. Not only the younger generation but It is for older people to enjoy also. It is a quick and easy way to do something fun and artistic. I suggest that if you do create a Photostory do not upload it on Adrive unless you pay for a subscription to their website and can access the page in which you save your work forever. If I did it over again I would have made sure to save a copy of it to my computer or share it on Facebook or Twitter so I could always access my video.
