Assignment 5 was for me to create a video using an online streaming tool called JayCut. It had to consist of at least 2 digital videos recorded with a digital camera or digital camcorder. I was required to then edit my video clip adding scenes, transitions, opening title, and closing credits. Lastly, I had to post it to our class website mixxt.com.
Uploading my video clips and other media was a breeze and then came the hard part. Trying to edit my video got very frustrating. The transitions would show up randomly and the music would start at different spots every time I tried to play it. Since it is an online tool and streams the footage it took forever to preview the video to make needed corrections. I ended up creating about 10 videos trying to get it to look decent. Due to how slow it took to processes, this assignment took me several hours. I actually had to give up one day and finish it the next.
Not being able to look at the video while creating it made the process very time consuming. I did not enjoy this project and got very flustered while doing it. I had several problems with JayCut and would never suggest it to anyone else. I like to have my work as perfect as I possibly can and this online application made that impossible. I really disliked this assignment and will never use JayCut again now or in the future.

The video was awesome. I can tell you took alot of time into editing this video. It was funny to see that man you had in the middle of the video. I seen him one day at a football game and it was hilarious. Also one of the parts I liked was the "Friday Night at the Fountain" scenes. It bought back alot of memories of my days here at USM. I can tell that it will also be memories that you will never forget either. Good job with your video. On another note, I would have to agree that uploading to Jaycut was very slow and frustrating. From looking at your work, it doesnt look like you had any problems at all because the video turned out great.
ReplyDeleteVery great Video and editing. I totally agree with Chris' comment.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video! It shows that you put a lot of work into it. You had a lot of extra features in your video. But the man in the middle dancing was a highlight! Jaycut was very slow and I hated how if you wanted to preview it took forever to download. But you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteEven though it was frustrating, you did a great job. Jaycut was slow and I hated it. It took forever to load but it was a good tool and assignment. You did alot of work on it and made a great video!
